On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, some neighborhoods throughout Kokomo are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 42nd Annual National Night Out (NAO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watches and co-sponsored by the Kokomo Police Department will involve more than 17,000 communities from all 50 states, as well as U.S. territories.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts, and to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships.
From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., residents in neighborhoods throughout Kokomo are asked to lock their doors and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Some neighborhoods will be hosting cookouts.
This year, the Kokomo Police Department will partner with Food Finders Food Bank to offer a mobile food pantry at Kokomo Beach, 802 W. Park Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The drive-thru distribution provides immediate hunger relief for people experiencing hunger by bringing nutritious food directly to the community.
Anyone planning or hosting an event in your neighborhood, or who would like additional information, please contact Assistant Chief Brian Seldon at 765-456-7284 or bseldon@cityofkokomo.org.
