The girls of Greentown have bragging rights. The 10U softball all-stars from eastern Howard County prevailed in a week-long tournament that was hampered by rain, taking the title on July 18.

The competition saw Greentown and Russiaville prevail over teams from Northwestern and Kokomo in the opening round on July 14. Russiaville followed with a win over Tipton, while Northwestern sent Kokomo home on July 15.

Tipton found itself in the unenviable position of having to fight through the consolation bracket to return to the final game, and the girls did just that, overcoming Northwestern. Russiaville fell to Greentown the same evening, forcing a playoff between Tipton and Russiaville to reach the championship round.

Tipton prevailed in its rematch against the western Howard County squad, only to face Greentown on July 18. As they had in every previous round, the Greentown girls unleashed their offense for a hard-fought victory.
