Coordinated Assistance Ministries (CAM), a non-profit organization dedicated to serving those at risk in Howard County, is launching its first annual September “Give a Fresh Start” Hygiene Drive to collect essential personal care items for local individuals and families.

Hygiene products are a fundamental necessity that many people struggling with poverty and homelessness cannot afford. The lack of access to these items can have a significant impact on health, self-esteem, and the ability to maintain employment. CAM's hygiene drive aims to address this critical need by providing products to those who rely on the organization's services.

"At CAM, our mission is to 'fill in the gaps’," said Jerome Williams, Executive Director of Coordinated Assistance Ministries. "While we often focus on food and shelter, personal hygiene items are just as crucial for the well-being and confidence of our clients. A simple bar of soap, a toothbrush, or a bottle of shampoo can make a world of difference for someone facing difficult circumstances."

The community is encouraged to donate new, unopened hygiene items throughout the month of September. High-demand items include:

  • Soap (bar and liquid)
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Deodorant
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Diapers and baby wipes
  • Toilet paper
  • Hand sanitizer (Alcohol Free)
  • Razors and shaving cream

Donations can be dropped off at the Coordinated Assistance Ministries office located at 625 N. Union St., during regular business hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
