On December 3, 2025, at approximately 6:22 p.m., officers of the Kokomo Police Department attempted to stop a white 2016 Toyota Rav 4 in reference to an ongoing investigation between the Kokomo Police Department, Howard County Sheriff’s Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The attempted traffic stop took place at State Road 931 and State Road 26.
The driver of the Toyota, who was identified as 48-year-old Eric Shane Hornbuckle, of Kokomo, refused to stop and led officers on a vehicle pursuit in the Indian Heights neighborhood. The pursuit continued westbound across 931 and onto Country Lane. Once on Country Lane, Hornbuckle exited his vehicle and led officers on a brief foot pursuit before being taken into custody.
Hornbuckle had an active arrest warrant for Violation of Probation/Petition to Revoke a Suspended Sentence for Stalking and Intimidation (both Level 6 Felonies). He was additionally charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, a Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement, a class A misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving, a class C misdemeanor.
