The Kokomo Humane Society has chosen a new executive director. Kadra Hillis, director of operations at the society since 2021, has stepped into the new leadership role.
Hillis will oversee the staff, volunteers, programs and finances, working closely with the Board of Directors to deliver results and ensure success. The Kokomo Humane Society is committed to improving the lives of animals, preventing cruelty and overpopulation, and uniting pets with families.
“We are thrilled to entrust Kadra Hillis to lead Kokomo Humane Society into its next chapter,” said Cara Snyder, president of the Humane Society’s board of directors. “She is highly qualified and deeply compassionate toward animals and people alike. Kadra is in tune with our community’s animal welfare challenges and is committed to making a difference.”
Hillis is a Kokomo native and a Purdue University graduate who joined the Kokomo Humane Society in 2018.
“It is an honor to step into this leadership role and serve an organization that means so much to our community,” said Hillis. “I am inspired every day by the dedication of our staff, volunteers and supporters. Together, we will continue to give animals the care, compassion, and second chance they deserve and be a trusted resource for this community.”
The Kokomo Humane Society, located at 729 E. Hoffer St., was established in 1891. It serves the community with high-quality animal care services, including sheltering, fostering, adoption, education, and community pet programs. It also partners with local law enforcement to provide animal control enforcement and cruelty investigations.
With 160 years of combined staff experience, the Kokomo Humane Society cares for animals in its shelter facility (est. 2018) and out in the community in its traveling Love Bus (est. 2023). For more information, visit www.kokomohumane.org.
