The promotional process requires interested deputies to complete a written examination, participate in an oral interview, and undergo a comprehensive job performance review. Following this process, Deputy Needler appeared before the Sheriff’s Merit Board on March 17, 2026, with Sheriff Jerry Asher requesting her approval. The Merit Board unanimously approved her promotion.

Cpl. Needler is currently assigned to the afternoon shift and will remain in that role while taking on her expanded supervisory responsibilities. In her new position, she will assist with shift leadership, mentor fellow deputies, and help ensure the continued delivery of professional law enforcement services to the citizens of Howard County.

Over the past five years, she has developed her skills and experience under the guidance of seasoned colleagues.

Prior to joining HCSO, Cpl. Needler served eight years in the United States Marine Corps. In her personal time, Cpl. Needler maintains both physical and mental readiness through regular fitness training and running, recognizing the importance of preparedness in her role.

Cpl. Needler resides in Kokomo with her wife Gabby and their four dogs. She is honored to assume the role of Corporal and remains committed to upholding the highest standards of leadership, professionalism, and public service for the residents of Howard County.
