The circus came to town, and for one unforgettable weekend, the Carver Community Center was transformed into a place of wonder, laughter, and jaw-dropping excitement. The Great Pages Circus, traveling all the way from Florida, brought its one-ring spectacle to Kokomo on Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29, delivering four high-energy shows that captivated audiences from start to finish.
Each show, running about an hour and a half, drew crowds of roughly 500 to 600 people. Families filled the space with anticipation, and thanks to a special offer allowing two kids to attend free with each adult, the event became an incredible opportunity for parents and children to experience something memorable together. The atmosphere was alive with joy, curiosity, and the kind of shared excitement that only a circus can bring.
The show opened with a breathtaking aerial act featuring two performers who climbed high above the crowd, using only ropes to execute stunning acrobatic routines. Spinning, flipping, and hanging upside down, they set the tone for a night full of amazement. Soon after, a lively clown took center stage, bringing laughter and participation from the crowd, especially during a playful tug of war that had kids cheering and fully engaged.
The talent kept rolling with a unique act showcasing precision and skill using spinning tops of all sizes. This was followed by a crowd-favorite: a group of energetic dogs that raced through obstacle courses and even slid down slides, delighting children and adults alike. Adding to the charm were three young camels, full of personality, and a striking black horse whose elegance and strength commanded attention as it trotted, bowed, and performed for the audience.
Intermission brought even more excitement, as children had the chance to ride camels and ponies, creating hands-on memories that extended beyond watching the show. The second half continued to impress with a powerful hand-balancing act, where a performer stacked himself higher and higher in a display of strength and control, and a young man displayed his brilliance juggling.
Then came the roar of engines. Motorcyclists sped inside a steel cage, looping and racing at incredible speeds, leaving the audience in awe and on the edge of their seats.
Throughout it all, the experience was enhanced by glowing toys, balloons, popcorn, and classic concession favorites like pretzels and hot dogs. It was more than just a show; it was a full experience.
The Great Pages Circus brought something special to Carver. And if the smiles and laughter were any indication, the community will be ready and waiting for its return next year.
