Area high school students can explore the career possibilities of next-gen manufacturing at a free four-day automation and robotics mini-camp set for June 8 to 11 at Ivy Tech Community College’s Kokomo Campus.

Students in grades 9 to 12, as well as spring 2026 high school graduates, are eligible to attend the mini-camp, which will include hands-on introductions to basic electricity, CNC machining, robotics, battery technology, pneumatics, and programmable logic controllers. The camp will meet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in the Industrial Technology Center on the Ivy Tech Kokomo Campus, 1815 E. Morgan St.

“This is an opportunity to explore automation and robotics to see if this is the career for you,” said Rich Ravas, associate professor of Automation, Robotics, Industrial, and Engineering Technology at Ivy Tech Kokomo. “Participants will get hands-on instruction using leading industry equipment and have a chance to talk one-one-one with employers in the field.”

The mini-camp is being presented by Ivy Tech Kokomo in part with the financial support of HAAS Automation, Inc., the largest machine tool builder in the United States. For the third year, the Battery Innovation Center, an Indiana non-profit focused on the development of battery technology, is supporting the mini-camp by teaching a segment on battery technology and manufacturing.

With the camp limited to 20 participants, students submitting applications now will be placed on a waitlist should any cancellations occur. To find out more, go to https://forms.gle/gE3YMDxmxCQPLDAt8.
