During the weekend of June 18–20, Kokomo will host several community festivals and celebrations, including the Haynes-Apperson Festival, concerts in Foster Park, a fireworks display, the Juneteenth Celebration in downtown Kokomo, and numerous events in and around the Studebaker Park area.
These events are expected to attract many visitors from throughout the region who will come to enjoy the festivities and celebrate with this community. The Kokomo Police Department has been working closely with its partner agencies, including the Howard County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Howard County Emergency Management, and event organizers. Through this collaborative effort and extensive planning, the police department is committed to helping ensure these events remain safe, secure, and enjoyable for everyone in attendance.
As part of those efforts, attendees will notice an increased and highly visible police presence throughout the event areas. Enhanced security measures are being implemented to deter violence, manage large crowds, and promote the safety and well-being of all guests, residents, and participants.
The Kokomo Police Department encourages everyone attending these celebrations to remain aware of their surroundings and promptly report any suspicious activity or safety concerns to event staff or law enforcement personnel.
Attendees should anticipate temporary road closures and increased traffic throughout the downtown area and portions of the east side of Kokomo. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow detour routes.
The Kokomo Police Department wishes everyone a safe, enjoyable, and memorable week of community celebration.
