The season is nearing a close for the Russiaville Youth Baseball League, as the major league tournament will hold its title game on Mon., June 29. That contest will feature Stout and Son and Martin Brothers, and one will go home with bragging rights for the rest of the year.

Stout and Son entered the tournament with the top seed and a bye. They waited for Hollingsworth Lumber to down Waddell’s in the opening round before dispatching Hollingsworth for a berth in the final.

On the other side of the bracket, Martin Brothers took its third seed into a game against the two-seed Lions Club team. Martin Brothers found victory and now will face Stout and Son for the hardware.

The delay for the final game is due to the Major League City Tournament currently taking place. Three Russiaville teams were still active in the tourney as of June 22, as Stout and Son faced Kokomo Grain of Northwestern, Hollingsworth Lumber fought Wildcat Mechanical of Greentown, and Lions Club faced Mr. Fireworks of Northwestern.

That’s not the only baseball taking place in Russiaville over the next week, however. The rookie league tournament kicks off tonight with First Farmers facing Reser’s and All Seasons squaring off against Stephens Machine.

Hobson Insurance and Button Dodge earned the byes in the tournament and await the winners on Wed., June 24. The rookie league champion will be crowned on Thu., June 25.
