Keep praying; a foundation is being set
You know, I’m in a season in my life where I feel like the Lord has placed me in obscurity.
I’m believing greater things are ahead, but if I’m being honest, there are days when it feels like nothing is happening. Nothing is moving. Things seem stagnant. Maybe some of you know exactly what I’m talking about. You’ve been praying, believing, working, and waiting, but you don’t see much changing around you.
But I’ve been reminded that just because I can’t see movement doesn’t mean God isn’t moving.
Maybe you’re in that same place right now. Maybe you’re wondering if God has forgotten about you, if the opportunity is ever going to come, or if what He’s spoken over your life is ever going to happen. I want to encourage you today. Don’t confuse silence with absence. God is still working in your situation.
I heard an old preacher say one time, “We can’t become so ambitious that we begin to see obscurity as punishment.”
Think about that for a moment.
Before a plant ever breaks through the soil, the roots are growing beneath it where nobody can see them. No applause. No recognition. No attention. Just growth in the hidden places.
The root has to establish itself. It has to hold itself firm before it can push upward through the soil. And once it finally emerges into the sunlight, exposed to the wind, rain, and all the elements, it can withstand those things because of what was developed underground.
I wonder how many of us are frustrated because we’re focused on what hasn’t come up yet, while God is focused on what’s growing underneath.
Maybe this season isn’t punishment. Maybe it isn’t delay. Maybe it’s preparation.
Maybe God is developing something in you that will be needed for where He’s taking you.
So, if you’re in a hidden season, keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep serving. Keep showing up. Keep believing because roots don’t grow overnight, and neither does purpose.
What feels like obscurity today may actually be the foundation for what God is about to do tomorrow. God is working!
Amen.
