The 29th Annual C.A.M. Golf Outing will take place Aug. 29 at Wildcat Creek Golf Course, 3200 Timber Valley Drive, Kokomo. Join Coordinated Assistance Ministries (CAM) as it celebrates another year of serving Kokomo and Howard County by providing temporary shelter and resources to hundreds of community members at a time of great need.
Located at 625 N. Union St., CAM is a ministry of many churches and organizations, built to serve the unhoused and disenfranchised in our community and surrounding areas. CAM was founded in 1993 by Rev. Ruth Lawson, though it is an evolution of a “Drop-In” program initiated by Center Township Trustee Jean Lushin in 1989.
The concept is designed to offer a day shelter for the homeless. CAM also serves as a payee representative so that individuals and families in need can access financial benefits. Today, more than 60 families benefit from this program.
CAM serves more than 1,000 residents annually, connecting them with needed resources and services such as access to hygiene products, mail pickup, meals and snacks, a place to escape inclement weather, public restrooms, life skills classes, and transportation.
Registration for the golf outing begins at 11 a.m. Tee time begins at noon. The cost to play is $400 per team or $100 for individual players There will be snacks, a catered lunch, and door prizes.
