The Validus Movement invites the community to stand up, get involved, and make its voice heard. Validus has two critical upcoming meetings at Grace United Methodist Church, 219 W. Mulberry St., and it invites input as it works to build a stronger future for Kokomo.
Validus will hold a Community Planning and Blueprint Session on Tue., Aug. 4, beginning at 7 p.m. at Grace UMC. The purpose is to co-create a blueprint centered on radical empathy, gathering community input and planning key next steps to deliver preventative services and support across four focus areas, which include:
- Establishing early intervention and preventative services for teens;
- Providing support and resources for justice-involved adults;
- Reducing violence by implementing restorative practices to build safer neighborhoods; and
- Addressing housing stability and support for vulnerable residents.
Validus also will hold a “Meet, Eat, and Unite the Streets” Kokomo budget meeting on Sun., Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Grace UMC.
This meeting will be a first step to establishing early intervention and preventative services for teens and Implementing violence reduction practices to build safer neighborhoods. “We’re done being silent,” stated Devon Rush, organizer of the Kokomo Validus Movement. “Come eat together, stand together, and advocate for how our community and local tax dollars are used to support our families.
