Police still searching for three suspects in June 21 murder of Braylen Johnson

On June 21, 2026, at approximately 1:37 a.m., officers with the Kokomo Police Department responded to The Greatt Escape, located at 2411 N. Washington St., regarding a report of a fight involving weapons in the parking lot.
While officers were responding, multiple gunshots were fired in the parking lot. Officers located 31-year-old Braylen Johnson suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Johnson succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives with the Kokomo Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Section responded to the scene and initiated a homicide investigation.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, arrest warrants were issued for five individuals.
On July 28, 2026, the Kokomo Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Section, with assistance from the Kokomo Police Department SWAT Team, Kokomo Police Department UAS Aviation Unit, Indiana State Police SWAT Team, and Howard County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, executed multiple search warrants throughout the City of Kokomo in connection with this homicide investigation.
Search warrants were served in the 1700 block of South Main Street, the 2400 block of North Purdum Street, and the 1000 block of South Calumet Street. Evidence relevant to the investigation was recovered during the execution of those warrants.
As a result of the operation, 28-year-old Demetrius Coleman and 28-year-old Keean Green were located and taken into custody on their outstanding arrest warrants. Both individuals were charged with:
- Conspiracy to Commit Murder (IC 35-41-5-2), Level 1 Felony
- Attempted Murder (IC 35-41-5-1), Level 1 Felony
- Criminal Recklessness (IC 35-42-2-2), Level 5 Felony
The Kokomo Police Department continues to actively search for three additional individuals with outstanding arrest warrants:
Devi Youghn Hartson, 25, wanted for:
- Conspiracy to Commit Murder (IC 35-41-5-2), Level 1 Felony
- Attempted Murder (IC 35-41-5-1), Level 1 Felony
- Criminal Recklessness (IC 35-42-2-2), Level 5 Felony
Kacy Posley, 28, wanted for:
- Criminal Recklessness (IC 35-42-2-2), Level 5 Felony
Jordan Ferguson, 33, wanted for:
- Assisting a Criminal (IC 35-44.1-2-5), Level 6 Felony
This investigation remains active and ongoing.
