Trick-or-treating and spooky celebrating haunt Kokomo in October

This article is brought to you by Comics Cubed in Kokomo. Join us for an epic Halloween sidewalk sale, this Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.! We'll have multiple vendors outside the store, selling comics and other pop culture items. Inside the store, we'll have sales and specials, and every paying customer gets a raffle ticket to win a cool prize! Bring the kids in costume for trick-or-treating!

This event is, of course, weather permitting! Halloween in Indiana can be unpredictable, and our friends don't want to get their comics wet! Comics Cubed is located at 121 E. Sycamore St. in downtown Kokomo. Just look for the gazebo next to City Hall.

Halloween isn’t just a day in October. In Kokomo, it’s a month-long celebration! Over the past few weeks, several spooky events already have taken place, but the big day is nearly here.

For those who missed it, or may be didn’t, First Friday kicked off the season with a Trick-or-Treat theme that brought thousands to downtown Kokomo. The Kokomo Howard County Public Library and the Kokomo Art Association also got involved in the celebration.

A week later, the dead returned to life in Crown Point Cemetery as the Howard County Historical Society put on its annual Cemetery Walk, where visitors heard from notable Kokomoans from yesteryear as they recounted their lives and details about the city in their day.

And just this past weekend, Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union put on its annual Free Kids Halloween Party. Hundreds of brightly colored, costumed kids showed up to play in bounce houses, visit with a few farm animals, take a ride in a monster truck, get their faces painted, and of course, collecting buckets of candy.

As Halloween approaches, there are several additional specially themed events taking place of the course of this week. Check out the list below and make sure to visit the Lantern’s Facebook page for photo galleries of First Friday, the Cemetery Walk, and the Solidarity Halloween Party!
