FIRST Indiana Robotics is proud to send 17 teams from across Indiana to Houston, Texas, this week to compete in FIRST Championship. Supported by statewide partners like Toyota Indiana, Carrier, and Salesforce, Indiana teams will be competing at all three levels against other teams from across the globe.

FIRST Championship is the culminating, international event for the youth robotics competition season and an annual celebration of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) for our community as we prepare young people for the future.

Teams competing include the TechnoKats Robotics Team from Kokomo High School and CyberTooth from Northwestern High School.

The 2025 competition themes are all centered around the planet’s oceans. Beneath the ocean’s surface lies the planet’s most complex ecosystems, full of life and potential for exploration and learning, where each inhabitant has a role to play in building a thriving environment. During the 2024-2025 FIRST season, FIRST® DIVE℠ presented by Qualcomm, teams use their STEM and collaboration skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. Along the way, they uncover the potential to strengthen the community and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans.

FIRST® Robotics Competition teams of high school students design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to play an action-packed game, released in January. They compete on a themed field as part of a three-team alliance in the spirit of Coopertition®. In 360-degree learning guided by adult mentors, each FIRST Robotics Competition team also creates a team identity, raises funds to meet its goals, and advances appreciation for STEM in its community. The theme for this competition is 2025 REEFSCAPE presented by Haas - Using engineering skills to strengthen one of the ocean’s most diverse habitats in a new challenge launched January 4, 2025.
