Annual event offers, parade, music, and fun, rain or shine, on June 14

Greentown will celebrate its heritage and community this Saturday, June 14, with the annual Greentown Glass Festival. This year’s event is packed with things to do and enjoy, promising a memorable day, rain or shine.
The festival, sponsored by McCool's Flooring of Kokomo and the Greentown Main Street Association, takes place from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. There will be live music, food trucks, and vendors throughout the day. All three features will be set up in downtown during all hours of the festival. The food trucks featured include Dolled Up Spuds, Rob's Kitchen, and Tacos Don Burro.
Things start a little early at Rescued Toys, a toys and collectibles shop located at 107 N. Meridian St., which will open its doors for the first time during the festival, beginning with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. and remaining open until 8 p.m.
The National Greentown Glass Association's Greentown Glass Marketplace will take place at Kokomo Zion Church from 9-11 a.m. And the association will hold its annual dinner at the church at 4:45 p.m.
Once the main festivities begin, the Greentown Farmers Market will operate from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Eastern High School Administration Building, 221 W. Main St.
The Greentown Glass Museum will hold a sidewalk sale, beginning at 10 a.m., featuring pieces donated by a private collector, and inside the museum there will be several new exhibits on display, including a scale model of the Greentown Glass Factory and a new mural honoring the workers.
The highlight of the day will the festival parade, which will begin at 11 a.m. The route starts at Eastern High School and will travel north on Harrison Street. It will turn east on Ind. 22 before turning south onto Howard Street. The route then circles back with a turn west on Walnut Street, heading back to Eastern High School.
There will be walking groups, emergency vehicles, classic automobiles and tractors, floats, and more in the parade.
A Cruise-In will take place at the Greentown American Legion Post 317, sponsored by Century Villa. It runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The musical lineup takes to the First Farmers Bank and Trust Stage, beginning at noon with Sarah Barton and 2nd That Band. They will be followed at 2 p.m. by Sonic Union.
At 4 p.m., the Medicinal Bluegrass Band will perform, followed by the Keyton Romero Band at 6 p.m. and the Blue Collar Union at 8 p.m.
Accumark Health will offer meetings with a nurse practitioner, free blood pressure screenings, height, weight, and BMI measurements, and free snow cones at its 115 W. Main St. office, beginning at noon.
A Family Fun Zone, presented by Josiah White's, will operate from noon until 6 p.m. at 112 N. Meridian St., featuring inflatable games, the Mooney Creek Petting Farm, face painting by Painted Reflections, balloon animals, and yard games. And kids will be able to take home a free children's book.
At 4 p.m. the Greentown Historical Society, 103 E. Main St., will feature Kent McQuiston as he presents, "The Way I Remember It, 1948-1962." This talk will feature McQuiston as he shares memories of Greentown during that time period.
