Carver Community Center proudly participated as a vendor at the recent Refreshing Springs Community Day, an event that celebrated unity, generosity, and faith. Even before the first booth opened, there was a palpable sense of excitement as community members gathered in anticipation of the day’s activities.

Carver Community Center used this opportunity to highlight several of its key programs. Staff members handed out flyers and candy while sharing information about the flagship Carver Kids Afterschool Program—a partnership with Bridges Outreach. Operating Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 6 p.m., this program provides students with academic support, enrichment activities, and a safe place to grow.

Carver also promoted its upcoming Spelling Bee, scheduled for Nov. 9 in collaboration with Gentlemen and Scholars Inc. of South Bend. Additionally, the team highlighted its faith-based Youth Group, where young people can enjoy a good meal, hear an encouraging message, and take part in open gym time.

Cheryl Sutton of Refreshing Springs Church of God in Christ, a key organizer and vendor coordinator, emphasized the heart behind the event.

“The purpose of the event was to connect and show love to the people in the community through giveaways, vendor services, and an atmosphere of God’s love,” Sutton shared. “Yes, the event was all we expected. The crowd and the smiling faces gave confirmation that the people enjoyed the atmosphere of fun, fellowship, and genuine love.

“The success of this event, I believe, was confirmation to many that Refreshing Springs is a ministry that cares and has a desire to develop a closer connection with the community.”

Carver Community Center’s presence at Refreshing Springs Community Day demonstrated its ongoing commitment to serving families and building positive relationships. By engaging directly with community members, Carver was able not only to share information but also to strengthen ties with those it serves. Events like this highlight the power of collaboration and faith-driven service to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.
