Pilato Kokomo, a Pilates studio located at 210 N. Main St. in downtown Kokomo, is hosting an array of collection drives now through Dec. 3. Operating as the Saint Xenia Project, Pilato is seeking donations of coats and winter attire, food, and toys to be donated to those in need this Christmas season.
Donations of new or gently used coats and jackets, hats, gloves, and scarves, boots and new socks, sweaters and hoodies, canned protein, fruits, and vegetables, grains, jarred sauces, shelf-stable milk, diapers, baby clothes, bottles, car seats and strollers, baby toys, action figures and dolls, board games, building blocks, arts and crafts supplies, batteries, and other appropriate gifts for children all are being accepted now.
The donations can be dropped off at the studio on Tuesdays between 4-6 p.m. or Saturdays between 10 a.m. and noon. They also may be dropped off during scheduled class times.
Pilato Kokomo also is accepting Christmas letters to be delivered to local nursing homes. The business is accepting letters and also has the necessary supplies on hand to create a letter to send. They suggest letters that contain inspirational Bible verses or uplifting quotes, holiday wishes, words of encouragement for the new year, favorite Christmas songs, or recipes.
The Christmas letters can be dropped off or created during the above-listed donation times.
Donors will have the chance to be rewarded for their generosity through the company’s 12 Days of Pilato event, taking place Dec. 8-19. During the event, people who donate will be selected at random to receive one of the prizes offered.
For each of the donation drop boxes (coats, food, baby items, toys), two donors will be selected at random to win. Writing a Christmas letter also will result in a chance to be selected. And Pilato Kokomo will hold free Pilates classes on Fri., Nov. 28. One Pilato member and one non-member will be selected to win a prize.
The prizes consist of items provided by local businesses in the community, and the grand prize is a three-month membership at Pilatos.
“We want to allow small businesses in town the opportunity to have more representation,” said Pilatos Kokomo owner Tori King. “We love Kokomo’s local business community and believe they deserve more support and opportunities to get their name out.”
