Just in time for Halloween, Kokomo Civic Theatre’s next production is the new Sherlock Holmes adventure, “Moriarty,” by comedic playwright Ken Ludwig. Kelly Hodges is playing Irene Adler. Steve Bachmann is playing Moriarty, King Otto, and others. Sara Holloway is playing Hilda Klebb, Paddy Keys, and others. Callie Sears is playing Daisy.

“Moriarty” is being directed by Elizabeth McQuiston. Moriarty is made possible, in part, by NIPSCO, the Howard County Commissioners, the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation, the Community Foundation of Howard County, the Arts Federation, and the Indiana Arts Commission, which receives support from the State of Indiana.

Miracle on Main Street set for Dec. 5

The City of Kokomo invites residents and visitors to kick off the Christmas season at its annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. This year’s theme, “Miracle on Main Street,” celebrates the joy, traditions, and community spirit that make the holiday season special.

The parade will travel along Main Street in downtown Kokomo, beginning at Madison Street and continuing to Superior Street. Spectators can look forward to an evening filled with festive floats, marching bands, holiday music, colorful displays, and plenty of Christmas spirit. Snow machines will add to the winter atmosphere, creating a magical setting for families and visitors to enjoy.

Of course, no Christmas parade would be complete without Santa and Mrs. Claus! Their appearance will bring an extra touch of holiday excitement for children and families gathered along the parade route.

The spirit of community involvement extends to this year’s official Christmas Parade poster, designed through a collaboration with Ivy Tech Community College. Each year, Kyle Wiley, Assistant Professor of Visual Communications, challenges students in one of his classes to create a design for consideration as the official poster for the City of Kokomo’s Christmas Parade.

This year’s winning design was created by student Charline Houtin. Featuring Santa Claus sharing a special moment with a child against a festive Christmas backdrop, the artwork captures the warmth, wonder, and magic of the holiday season.

The annual project gives students an opportunity to apply their creative talents to a real-world community event while helping promote one of Kokomo’s favorite holiday traditions. The City of Kokomo congratulates Charline on having her artwork selected and thanks Kyle Wiley and Ivy Tech for bringing student creativity into the community.

The City of Kokomo encourages businesses, civic organizations, churches, schools, nonprofit groups, and individuals to participate in this year’s parade. Whether entering a decorated float, organizing a group of walkers, showcasing a vehicle, or creating another unique holiday entry, there is a place for everyone in this community celebration.

Those interested in participating can visit the City of Kokomo’s official website at www.cityofkokomo.org to find the Christmas Parade entry application. Completed applications can be emailed to the city as directed on the form.

“Miracle on Main Street” is an invitation for the entire community to come together, celebrate the season, and create lasting holiday memories. From the creativity of the parade entries to the sounds of marching bands and the excitement of Santa’s arrival, the event promises something for spectators of all ages.

“The Christmas Parade is one of those special traditions that brings our entire community together,” said Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore. “There’s something wonderful about seeing downtown filled with families, friends, and neighbors celebrating the season. ‘Miracle on Main Street’ is a reminder that the real magic of Christmas is found in the joy we share and the memories we create together. We look forward to welcoming everyone downtown for another memorable evening.”

Families are encouraged to arrive early, find a favorite viewing spot along Main Street, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas in downtown Kokomo.

Bring your family, invite your friends, and let your holiday spirit shine! Whether you join us along the parade route or become part of the parade itself, the City of Kokomo looks forward to celebrating the season with you at this year’s “Miracle on Main Street” Christmas Parade.
