An invitation from We the People

Letter to the Editor, August 21, 2025

Dear Editor,

Abraham Lincoln once described our system of government as being “a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.” How many of us really understand what that means? We the People Kokomo would like to invite you to a FREE course on American History and Civics.

By using original documents, this course will clearly lay out the way our Founding Fathers intended our government to function and expose why so many areas of our government have gone off track and replaced a government FOR the people with a government FOR the privileged few.

Please join us as we gather on Thursday evenings, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., beginning September 4, to learn the truth about our past and discuss how we can make a difference today for the future.

Freedom is not free. This is not just a trite slogan or reference to the need for a military. We are all responsible for holding our government accountable to our Constitution and to protect freedom for future generations. It starts with us being knowledgeable of our rights.

We are a non-partisan group that is learning how to discuss issues from all angles and develop solutions. Our community is facing some very big problems regarding doctor and mental health care shortages, depletion and contamination of our environmental resources, water rights, property tax rates, housing, drugs, crime rate, jail lawsuits, etc. A lot of these challenges are a direct result of our laws not being implemented consistently and completely.

We encourage you to join us as we learn together at Fair Havens Alliance Church on Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m. beginning on September 4. The church address is 1216 S. 300 W, Kokomo/Russiaville (on Malfalfa, just south of the County Home.) Refreshments will be served.

For more information you can contact Mr. Chuck Freyler at 765-437-0150 or email him at crfreyler@hotmail.com.

GOD bless America and GOD bless Howard County!

In Him,

We The People Kokomo
