Loren Dewayne Sitzes
Loren Dewayne Sitzes, age 82, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. He was born February 14, 1941 in Glen Allen, Missouri to the late Frank and Beulah Sitzes. Beulah passed away in 1943 when Loren was only two years old. He was a 1959 graduate of Kokomo High School.
In his younger days, Loren enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and mini golf. His love of sports he passed on to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He made sure to make it to as many of their sporting events he could.
Loren married Betty "Carol" Wilson and together they lived a beautiful life. They traveled together, their favorite destination being Israel. They played euchre and dominoes quite often as well.
He began working at the young age of 15. His first job was for Long's Grocery. He had a few other jobs in between him starting at Delco Electronics where he retired after 32 years. He was generous, always looking out for others. Loren was a Chaplain for St. Joe Hospital and loved volunteering for a good cause. He volunteered in the Indiana State Prison ministries. He was also the main organizer for the Annual Post Office Food Drive for 25 years as well as ran the Woodland Church of God Food pantry. He and Carol have been long time members of Woodland Church of God. He stayed busy whether it was for himself or others. He frequently went to garage sales and auctions as a hobby.
Loren had everything you needed, from a helping hand to a 3X5 index card (which he always carried in his pocket).
Loren is survived by his wife of 49 years Carol Sitzes; children Monica Poole (Mark) and Steve (Terri) Sitzes; stepdaughter Rhonda Fike (John); grandchildren Jordan Poole, Rachel Poole, David Sitzes, Stacey Taylor, Nicholas Sitzes, Macayla Ariza, Brittney Olivas, Jonathon Heath, Chris Heath, and Jennifer Heath. He also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his father and birth mother, Loren is preceded in death by the mother who raised him, Marie Sitzes; siblings Velda Mix, Evert Sitzes, David Sitzes, and Marlena Rubow.
A visitation for Loren will be held Monday, November 13, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Woodland Church of God, 3401 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.

B.J. McClain
B.J. McClain, 45, Kokomo, passed away at 10:37 am, Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born November 10, 1977, in Kokomo, the son of Ty S. & Julie (Lanning) Huffman. B.J. was a 1996 graduate of Eastern High School. He was currently working for Chrysler/Stellantis Casting plant as a Tool and Die Maker and had over twenty years at Lorentson MFG prior.
He took great pride in his ’66 Chevrolet Impala and enjoyed any opportunity to activate flames from the exhaust. A passionate hobby of his was using his professional mechanic skills to turn a wrench and dive into new projects. A few things B.J. loved: sprint car racing, napping in the sun or on a beach, baking some of his mom’s dessert recipes, family time and special holidays, eating food and candy on his cheat days, going to the gym and pumping blood, Lifetime movies, a good book, sleeveless t-shirts or even better, no t-shirt. He loved hanging out in the garage, being a good friend, helping his neighbors far and wide with various tasks and maintenance. He loved being someone that others could rely on and look up to. Most of all he loved being a good dad and taking care of his girls.
B.J. is survived by his love, Angela Morris; mother, Julie (James) Huffman; daughter, Elianna Celerina McClain Morris; stepson, Isaiah Hood (Molly); sister, Alexis Grace; grandfather, James (Connie) Lanning; special nieces, Kirstin and Whitney Pierce; special nephew, Brody Pierce; mother-in-law, Carla Morris-Bearden; and several close aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
B.J. was preceded in death by his father, Ty S. McClain; uncle, Karl McClain; grandparents, Mary Lanning, Basil McClain, and Lois McClain.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, November 17, 2023, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, 1315 W Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, with Pastor Doug Benham officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 3 pm Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a college bound account has been set up for his daughter through Star Financial Bank, which can be done through Zelle (acct. # 17652712264), cash, or check.
