Shannon Matthew Hunter
Shannon Matthew Hunter, 50, of Sheridan, Indiana passed away November 19, 2023. He was born on March 11, 1973, in Kokomo, IN, the son of Garfield Richard Hunter, Jr. and Dianna Hunter (Miller). On March 15, 1997, he married Kristy Hunter (Buckner) who survives.
Shannon served in the United States Navy from 1991 until 1994 where he was a damage control fireman on the USS Detroit and gained the nickname "Catfish". He loved hunting, fishing, reading, cooking and baking, working, and playing with his grandkids. Shannon was a member of Hillside Missionary Baptist Church in Kokomo, IN. He loved his work family at Richards Building Supply in Kokomo and Hometown Pizza in Sheridan.
Surviving relatives include his wife Kristy Hunter of Sheridan, IN; mother, Dianna Hunter of Duffield, VA; siblings, Bill Hunter of Duffield, VA; Robyn Hunter of Duffield, VA; Felix Hunter of Bedford, IN; Jon Griffey of Lafayette, IN; children, Jamie Hunter (fiance Zachary) of Sheridan, IN; Jimmy Absher of Lafayette, IN; Nicholas Branum (Cheyenne) of Kokomo, IN; Brayden Hunter (Chastity) of Peru, IN; Dalton Hunter (Constance) of Sheridan, IN; grandchildren, Chris (Nikki), Austin (Bobbie), Cayden (Kelsie), Kenzi, Tinley, Jensyn, Gracelynn, Maelee, Emeryrose, Caleb, Hayden, Brently, Jack, Edan; great grandchildren, Sylus, Weslyn, Huxley; special friends, Johnny Jarrett and two bonus daughters Shelby and Becca and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Garfield Hunter, Jr., brother David Hunter, grandchild Elijah Branum, and his grandparents.
A memorial gathering will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Hillside Missionary Baptist Church 12080 West 100 North, Kokomo, IN 46901. A memorial service will begin at 5:00 PM at the church. Memorial contribution can be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Shannon Matthew Hunter.
Chester Lee (Bud) Hendricks
Chester Lee (Bud) Hendricks, 62, of Galveston, passed away at his home November 18, 2023. He was born July 18, 1961, to Lorena (Bennett) and Chet Hendricks. He graduated from Eastern High School in 1980. On March 21, 1992, he married Dawn (Noel) Hendricks, and she survives.
Bud was a skilled craftsman and built houses for McKibben Construction. He helped build most of the homes in Brookshire Estates. He also worked at The Original Treasure Mart, where he enjoyed helping people find their treasures. Bud loved time with his grandchildren, collecting antiques, playing video games, and participated in several pool and dart leagues.
Surviving family include his wife, Dawn Hendricks of Galveston, IN.; a daughter, Vienna (Ben) Kraay of Flora, Ind., and three grandchildren, Wesley, Colton, and Logan Kraay. Other surviving family include his mother, Lorena Hendricks of Greentown, two brothers, Tom (Sandy) Hendricks, of Greentown, Ind., and John (Angela) Hendricks of Foley, AL.; a sister, Joyce (Scott) Flick of Greentown, Ind., as well as several nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his father Chet Hendricks.
The Hendricks family invites friends to join them in celebrating Bud’s life on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.

Michael Ronald Still
Michael Ronald Still, June 19, 1949-Nov. 14, 2023. Isaiah 64:8, Yet, You Lord, are our Father. We are the clay. You are the Potter. We are all the work of Your Hand.
Mike was born in Phoenix, Arizona – the late-in-life son of Fredrick R. Still and Margaret Haugh Still, both deceased. His brother, Freddie Still (Bev), was 17 years older and is deceased. Freddie and Bev were instrumental in involving Mike in Boy Scouts and in the Church of God-guiding him on his life-long path of service.
Mike graduated from Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix, Arizona in 1967 and then came to Indiana to attend Anderson College (now University), a Church of God, Christ-centered college, to achieve a Bachelor’s degree of Arts and Crafts in 1975 where he loved being a part of the Drama Club and the Booster Club. While attending Anderson he was part of a mission trip to Peru, South America. He then achieved a Master’s degree in Education from Indiana University in 1982. Mike accepted a position as the art teacher at Maconaquah School Corporation in 1977 and remained there for 31 years, retiring in 2008.
Mike was married to Gail Winget in 1973 whom he met at Anderson College, and they were blessed with three children, all who survive: Christian Still (Natalie); Adam Still (Stormie); Aaron Still (Amber). In 1998, Mike married Diana Proctor Snelling Still, alias “Princess Di” and he became her “Prince Charming (PC)”. Diana survives her Prince Charming. Diana’s son, Michael Snelling (Miranda) became a fourth son to Mike.
Mike truly believed that he was to be the hands of the Master Potter, the Almighty God, by using his talents and his mind to spread the “Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ” so he embarked on the ministry of the Master’s Potter to show and tell others about Christ while making his beautiful, functional pottery on his potter’s wheel. He believed that we, as God’s children, are like clay in the hands of God, the Master Potter, being shaped and molded in His image.
When Mike married Di, also a true believer in being the hands of Christ, together they served the Lord through numerous public ministries: The walk to Emmaus, the Kairos Prison Ministry and the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Together they enjoyed displaying and selling his pottery at craft shows and historical re-enactments such as Mississinewa 1812 and Trail of Courage, always focusing on God as the Master Potter.
Mike enjoyed radio-controlled airplanes, riding motorcycles, riding his bike on Rails to Trails with friends, attending Tuesday morning Men’s Prayer Breakfasts, and serving South Creek Church of God. A couple of Mike’s “Prince Charming” attributes were that he always had a joke to tell, and that he was always ready to help anyone in need. Music of all genres was one of his passions and he was able to express that when singing in choirs. Mike was a “movie buff” and you did not want to play movie trivia with him!
Mike and Di made it a priority to interact with family and friends – with special attention to their grandchildren who survive: Hailey Still, Madelyn Still, Peyton Still, Rylee Still, Kyla Still Takata (David), Mia Still Crawford (Luke), Camdyn Still, Samara Still, Aurora Still, Cade Still and Cole Still; Bailey Snelling and Drew Snelling. Also surviving are a niece and nephew in Arizona and a niece in Georgia. He was preceded in death by his nephews, Wes Still and William Still.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at Noon on Saturday December 2, 2023, at South Creek Church of God, 5937 S. Park Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Aaron Perry officiating. Friends are invited to visit with family from 10-12 pm Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to the Anderson University Matching Scholarship fund through South Creek Church of God. This fund supports students attending Mike’s home church, South Creek, that will study at his alma mater, Anderson University.
