Rickey Lewis Harden

Rickey Lewis Harden, age 72, of Greentown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024. He was born on July 1, 1951, to his parents, Earl Harden and Maxine (Moore) Harden. Rickey attended Windfall High School.

Rickey was employed for Continental Steel in Kokomo for many years, until they closed their doors. He then began working for the State Highway Department and continued there until his retirement. Rickey always had an impeccable work ethic. He was definitely a person that lived to work, rather than one who worked to live.

Rickey marched to the beat of his own drum most of his life, and never minded being a loner. His demeanor was quiet and subdued most of the time, until he was around his loved ones who sometimes could get him riled up. You could search the world, and not find a more organized and tidy man than Rickey. He was never afraid to ask questions, and always enjoyed learning and bettering himself. In his spare time, you may have found him metal detecting or watching a baseball or football game. Even though Rickey didn’t always vocalize his sentiments, his dear family knew how much he loved each of them. He will be greatly missed!

Those left to carry on Rickey’s legacy of love are his mother, Maxine Harden; son, Kane Harden; grandchildren, Tristen Harden, Morgan Cecil; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Gary (Linda) Harden, Pamela (Dean) Slate, Debra Stout, Rhonda Harden, Michelle (Brad) Stroup special friend, Sherry Robinson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rickey was preceded in death by his father, Earl Harden.

A funeral service celebrating Rickey’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Taylor & Cowan Funeral Home, located at 314 N. Main St., Tipton, with Pastor Scott Blaylock officiating. Visitation for family and friends will take place prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
