Max Dee McKoon

Max Dee McKoon, 69, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away June 3, 2024. He was born on November 24, 1954, in Kokomo, IN, the son of Carl Durfee and Emma J. (Troyer) McKoon. He retired from Chrysler in 2004 and also proudly served his country in the Air Force Reserves as a Jet Engine Mechanic. He was a 1973 graduate of Haworth High School and received and Associate’s Degree from Indiana University of Kokomo. He was an avid music lover, enjoyed painting and the Arts. He also enjoyed bicycle riding around town. He was known by many for his Karaoke singing and socializing at various taverns.

Max is survived by daughter, Andrea McKoon; daughter Kasey McKoon Catt and husband, Jeffrey; siblings, Nancy (Jim) Guthrie, Carlene Nearon; grandchildren, Dylan McKoon, Brooklyn Adams, Aidyn McKoon, Oliver Anderson; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David McKoon, Carl McKoon, Buck McKoon, Cecil McKoon.

Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902. Derrick Shelton

On June 5, 2024, we mourn the passing of Derrick Shelton, a cherished member of the community. Derrick was born in Birmingham, Alabama, as the youngest child of Horace and Irene Shelton. His family relocated to Indiana during his childhood, where he attended Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church with his ones.

Derrick's spiritual journey began early in life when he embraced Christ, a commitment he reaffirmed later on. After completing high school, he briefly served in the U.S. Navy. Notably, Derrick excelled in sports, particularly football, in Kokomo, Indiana. His achievements were celebrated in local publications like the Kokomo Tribune.

A graduate of Taylor High School in 1984, Derrick ventured to the Pacific Northwest in the early 1990s and established a career in general construction as a skilled carpenter and painter on commercial properties.

Known for his ability to see the best in others, Derrick's legacy lives on through his decision to donate the gift of sight. He is survived by his children Miranda, Derrick, Ericka Ann, and Keisha; sister Angela (Dana); brother Douglas; along with numerous relatives and friends. The family expresses gratitude to their loyal friends and supporters during this difficult time.

A celebratory visitation honoring Derrick will take place from 9 - 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at the N.L. Bluitt Jr Funeral Chapel, located at 511 E Monroe St. Following this gathering, a graveside service will be held at Crown Point Cemetery on 1101 E Sycamore St. The N.L. Bluitt Jr Funeral Chapel is privileged to support the Shelton Family during this period of loss and remembrance.



Betty Jean Kellett

Betty Jean Kellett, age 89, of Ravenden, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Century Villa, Greentown, IN. She was born on February 13, 1935, in Ravenden, Arkansas, to the late Hasting and Flora (Stevens) English. She married Lyle "Gene" Eugene Kellett on June 25, 1955, in Tipton, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2015.

Betty retired from Delco Electronics. She was a member of UAW #292. Betty enjoyed crafting such as sewing, quilting, knitting, embroidery, and crocheting. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, camping, boating, and horseback riding. Betty was a member of Courtland Avenue Church of Christ in Kokomo and Ladies Auxiliary VFW #7831 in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. She was very dedicated to her family. Betty was generous with people who were in need, and she took pride in everything she did.

Surviving are her children, Wenona (Tom) Beahrs, Wendell (Charlotte) Kellett, and Shiela (Nick) Kellett; grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Pete, Karen (Mike) McGahey, Stephanie Kellett, Elizabeth Woenker, Zeppelin (Kristin) King, Tabitha King, Ian (Dawne) Kellett, Jacob Taylor, Michael Wade, and Britney (Travis) Nash; sister, Sue English Collins; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are her parents; husband, Gene; and sister, Judy English Rone.

There will be a time of visitation for Betty on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 P.M. at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery.



Marilyn Sue Krall

Marilyn Sue Krall, 78, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away June 4, 2024. She was born on May 14, 1946, in Kokomo, IN, the daughter of Thomas and Lucille Pickering (Morris). On May 1, 1965, she married Robert Krall who survives.

Marilyn retired from Delco Electronics after 30 years of service. She was the past honor queen of Job’s Daughters. Marilyn enjoyed NASCAR, traveling out west, and going to Disney World. She also enjoyed collecting Boyd's Bears.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Robert Krall of Kokomo, IN; son, Jeff Krall of Noblesville, IN; daughter-in-law, Massiel Krall; sister, Cindy Gibson of Colorado; twin brother, Marvin Pickering of Kokomo, IN; brother, Thomas "Joe" Pickering of Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Zachrey Krall; Kelsie Krall; six great grandchildren; nephew, Billy Gibson and nieces, Wendy Howell, Jennifer and Leigh Ann.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son James Mathew Krall, and niece Jill Gibson.

Kelly Ann Johnson

Kelly Ann Johnson, 55, of Kokomo, IN, passed away June 3, 2024. She was born on March 15, 1969, in Kokomo, IN, the daughter of Don Philip and Susan Flora Johnson (Johnson).

Kelly graduated from Western High School in 1987. She worked at Community Howard Regional Howard as an ER Coder. She enjoyed taking vacations to Florida with her family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, Isabella and Avalyn.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Madison Johnson (Zachary VanMeter); grandchildren, Isabella and Avalyn; stepsister, Amy Shemoel (Danyel); stepbrother, Russ Berks (Deann); niece, Abigail Shemoel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Marjorie Berks, and her best friend Shelly Johnson.
