Phillip W. Ford
Phillip W. Ford, a cherished father, brother, and grandfather, and a lifelong resident of Kokomo, IN, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on October 6, 1966, to the late Mannie and Terry Ford, Phillip's warm spirit and jovial nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Phillip was a proud graduate of Kokomo High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and developed his passion for music and sports. After graduation, he dedicated many years of service to Chrysler, Target, and Walgreens, where he was not just an employee but a friend to many, known for his ready smile and willingness to lend a helping hand.
A devoted family man, Phillip is survived by his loving daughter, Emily Redding, and his son, Evan Ford, who both inherited their father's sense of humor and kindheartedness. He was a guiding light in their lives and took great joy in sharing his interests with them. Phillip's brother, Russell Ford, along with several cousins, also mourn his passing, remembering him as a beacon of laughter and friendship within the family.
Phillip's world was further brightened by his adored grandchildren, Liam, Ellie, and Finn, who will miss their grandfather's playful spirit and the special moments they shared. Whether he was cheering them on from the sidelines or teaching them the finer points of video gaming, Phillip embraced every second spent with his grandchildren.
An avid I.U. college basketball fan, Phillip never missed a game and was known for his enthusiastic support of his favorite team. His love for music was profound, with Pink Floyd holding a special place in his heart. Many will recall Phillip's impressive knowledge of the band's discography and the joy he found in sharing his favorite tracks.
Phillip's interest in video games was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with his children as they grew up, creating cherished memories during their gaming sessions. Trips to Kings Island were another family tradition that Phillip held dear, as they were synonymous with laughter, adventure, and the joy of being with his loved ones.
Family dinners at Outback Steakhouse were a staple in the Ford household, where Phillip was a familiar and beloved patron. These evenings were filled with lively conversation, hearty meals, and the warmth of family—a testament to Phillip's devotion to those he loved.
Described by those who knew him as funny and friendly, Phillip's sense of humor was a source of comfort and delight. He had the rare ability to light up a room with his wit and to make people feel at ease with his genuine friendliness.
Phillip's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the importance of family. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the community of Kokomo for their support and companionship throughout Phillip's life. His spirit will forever be a part of the fabric of the town he called home.
Phillip W. Ford's life will be celebrated by family and friends, who will continue to honor his memory by embracing the joy and camaraderie he brought into their lives. As Phillip would often say, "The show must go on," and so it shall, with his laughter echoing in the stories that will be told and retold in his memory.
