James Michael Scales
James Michael Scales, 59, Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at IU White Memorial Hospital. He was born June 7, 1965, in Kokomo, to Robert and Katherine (Nemeth) Scales.
James was a 1983 graduate of Haworth High School. He was the previous owner of Walnut Ridge Campground in Monticello, IN. James enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by: his sister Heidi Allison; brother Bill Scales; nephew Dale Allison; niece Rosemary Allison; and girlfriend Gloria Cox.
James was preceded by his parents.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown. Carolyn Sue Maners
Carolyn Sue Maners, 76, of Tipton, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Brickyard Healthcare- Muncie. She was born on November 2, 1948, the daughter of Claude and Clara (Launinus) Casey. On October 5, 2000, she married Denton Jay Maners and, he preceded her in death on July 4, 2019.
Carolyn graduated from Kokomo High School in 1966. She retired from General Motors after 31 years of service. Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, playing solitaire, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Carolyn is survived by: her children Tammy (Doug) Wolff, Chris Marr, Rockey Marr, and Eric (Sabrina) Marr; grandchildren Krista Barber, Mike (Danielle) Marr, Alex (Carissa) Marr, Donavan Marr, Brock (Kailie) Marr, and Dylan Cockerham; great-grandchildren Lily Barber, Mason Crull, Matthew Crull, Emorie Marr, Avery Marr, and J.D Marr; siblings Polly Clover and Claudette (Dick) East; and father of her children Jerry Marr, with whom she maintained a close relationship until her passing.
Along with her husband of 18 years Denton Maners, Carolyn was preceded in death by: her parents Claude & Clara Casey; brothers Dean (Wanda) Casey and Ray (Rosetta) Casey; and brother-in-law Bill Clover.
A funeral service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E, Main Street Russiaville, with Pastor Jimmy Justice officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Springs Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Christina Jean Brown
Christina Jean Brown, age 51, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at her residence. She was born on August 4, 1973, in Kokomo to the late David A. Floyd and Donna J. Floyd. Christina married Paul Brown on December 11, 2017, and he survives.
Christina was a great mother and even better grandmother. She loved all of her kids and grandkids deeply. She was a very loving and caring person. One of her favorite things to do was curl up with her grandkids and watch cartoons. Christina would do anything for anyone if she had the means to help; she would without a second thought. She always found the positive in any situation and would brighten any room she walked into.
Christina is survived by: her loving husband Paul; children Tiffany, Abby, Christopher, Donna, Jacob, Brayden, Michael, D.J., and P.J.; grandchildren Gaven, Kayden, Saniah, and Dalton; sisters April and Betty Sue; several nieces and nephews; and adopted mother Margaret Loper.
Preceding in death are her parents and an aunt, Anita Paulo.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
