Lisa Ann Steele

Lisa Ann Steele, 65, of Kokomo, formerly of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Born November 12, 1960, in Columbus, she was the daughter of Jack D. and Noel C. (Taylor) Koontz, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother David Koontz.

Lisa dedicated many years of her life managing several Burger King restaurants in the Columbus area, where she was known for her strong work ethic and ability to connect with both employees and customers. Outside of work, she found joy in diamond art and painting, and she had a deep love for animals.

Above all else, Lisa was selfless and devoted to her family. She gave freely of her time, love, and energy, always placing the needs of those she cared about before her own. Her greatest happiness came from being with her loved ones, especially her cherished grandson Kolson, who brought her immense pride and joy.

She is survived by her loving husband Eddie Steele of Kokomo; her son Tanner (Karlee) Steele of Kokomo; her adored grandson Kolson Steele of Kokomo; her sisters Sherri (Doug) Pearson of Scipio and Patty Webb of Columbus; her brothers Alan (Jackie) Koontz of Columbus and Leonard Koontz of Seymour; along with several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved cat and dog Ozzy and Cooper.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Myers-Reed Chapel with Pastor Tracey Stults officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Steven Joseph Samsel

Steven Joseph Samsel, 70, of Macy, IN, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, IN. He was born on March 21, 1956, in Cassville, IN, the son of George and Marthaellen Samsel. On May 23, 1998, he married Karen (O’Brien) Samsel, who survives.

Steve graduated from Haworth High School in 1974. He worked as a correctional officer at Miami Correction Facility for eight years. Steve was an outdoors man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve was a jack of all trades and an animal lover.

Surviving relatives include his wife Karen Samsel of Macy, IN; daughters Ashley Samsel (Derek) of Logansport, IN and Aeriel Delgado (Logan) of Woodlawn, TN; grandchildren Madelynn Hunter, Carson Hunter, Miracle Bales, and Dillon Delgado (Rosabella); and great-grandchild Graylynn Vanderwall.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering will take place at a later date.
