Mack Harness Trenary
Mack Harness Trenary, 88 years old, of Forest, IN, passed away 2:20 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026. He was born on November 14, 1937, the son of the late Fred and Mabel (Harness) Trenary. On March 28, 1959, he married Judith “Judy” Pumphrey, and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2008.
Mack was a graduate of Forest High School. He was generally a quiet and reserved man. He was a farmer through and through. He spent a lifetime working the land, running a combine, and climbing behind the wheel of a tractor. He was a pilot and had a fascination for flying planes and remote-controlled helicopters and drones. He attended Forest United Methodist Church. Mack liked taking drives on his motorcycles.
Mack is survived by his children Marlene (Rick) Stevenson and Mark (Kay) Trenary; grandchildren Jessica (Charles Chism) Stevenson and Kyle (Claire) Stevenson; great-grandchildren Zeke Stevenson and Joel Stevenson; brother-in-law Joe (Carl Whitley) Pumphrey; and special lady friend Carolyn McQuinn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Michelle; an infant son; siblings Jack (Barbaralee) Trenary and Peggy (Charles) Cameron; and nephews Jackie Trenary and Jeff Trenary.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Stout & Son Funeral Home – Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, IN 46979. A funeral service celebrating Mack’s life will begin noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Kenny Joseph Scott
Kenny Joseph Scott, 84, of Arcadia, Indiana, passed away on August 9, 2026. He was born on November 14, 1941, and was a Hoosier at heart, with a life that took him on many adventures before bringing him back home to Arcadia.
After graduating from Jackson Central High School in 1961, Ken proudly served in the United States Army, where he first traveled stateside and then to Europe. Following his military service, he returned to his hometown of Arcadia and worked at Chrysler for a short time before relocating to New Mexico to be near an Army friend. It was there that he eventually met Judy, the woman who would become his beloved wife and partner in life.
Ken and Judy later moved to Washington state, where Ken worked on his brother’s dairy farm. In 1977, they returned to Arcadia, where they made their home and raised their family.
Ken spent many years working for Public Service of Indiana, now Duke Energy, where he worked at the Riverwood Power Plant and later at the Marble Hill Nuclear Power Plant in southern Indiana. He retired after a long and dedicated career.
Retirement gave Ken more time to pursue the things he enjoyed. He could often be found on the golf course, both playing and mowing, and he continued to put his skills to work as an electrician and blacksmith. He enjoyed watching football, playing cards, camping, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. When his children were young, some of his happiest times were spent taking the family camping and fishing, sharing his love of the outdoors and creating memories together.
Ken was a devoted husband and father and a proud grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Judith Gaye (Higgins) Scott, and his three daughters Kelly (Neil) Harvey, Kendra (Jerry) Dazey, and Rebecca Junkersfeld.
He leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Liam Harvey, Lillian (Aaron) Hartman, Riley (Aidan) Wilson, Jaden Dazey, Brady Rook, Taryn Junkersfeld, Haley Junkersfeld, Hud Dazey, Gavin Harvey, Ryder Dazey, Rowan Dazey, Ella Dazey, and Piper Dazey. He was also looking forward to welcoming his first great-grandson, expected in December.
Ken is also survived by his sister Pat (Vince) Turner and his brother Tom (Kathy) Scott, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl George (Gustave Joris) Scott and Katherine Lavaghn (Lewis) Scott and his siblings Robert Scott, Earlene Augustine, Darrell Scott, Janette Hammack, Franklin “Pete” Scott, David Scott, Bruce Scott, and son-in-law Jeremy Junkersfeld.
A celebration of life and memorial will be held at East Union Christian Church in Atlanta, Indiana, on Thursday, August 13, at 11:00 am. A meal for the family will follow.

Ainsley Rose Wood
Ainsley Rose Wood, infant daughter of Kaden Wood and Haley Sutherland, was born sleeping at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. Though Ainsley never took a breath in our world, she was deeply loved from the very start and touched many lives forever.
Along with her parents, Ainsley will be deeply missed by her sisters Paisley Fugate and Wrenley Wood; grandparents Michael Sutheralnd, Christy Wood (Matt Mason), Chris Evans (Kimberly Hooper), and Jessica (Jason) Garling; great-grandparents Angela Shaffer, Jerry Wood, Donna Evans, and Evan Lewis; aunts and uncles Destiny Sutherland, Aiden Sutherland, Kaleb Wood, and Hope Baker; along with several cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2026, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor Richard Conrad. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Donald “Don” George Engelhardt
Donald “Don” George Engelhardt, 80 years old, of Kokomo, passed away at 5:21 p.m. Monday July 27, 2026, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo, IN. He was born in Chicago, IL, on November 1, 1945, the son of the late William and Margaret Mae (Williams) Engelhardt. On November 19, 1983, he married Ellen Thurston in Phoenix, AZ, and she survives.
Don proudly served as a Chicago Firefighter from 1978 until being placed on disability in 2000 and then medically retiring in 2008. While with the fire department, he served several roles, with his most notable assignments being Truck 15, Engine 45, Engine 54, and Midway Airport. After moving to Indiana in 2001, Don was employed at Grissom Air Reserve Base as an electrician. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a fan of all sports, but he especially liked cheering for the Bears and the Cubs. He could frequently be spotted cheering on his grandkids. Don was the type of man who never knew a stranger. He liked socializing with people and had a natural gift for making people feel comfortable. Don will be remembered for always prioritizing his family above everything else.
Don also served his country as a member of the United States Army and Air Force Reserve.
In addition to his wife Ellen, Don is survived by his children Joseph (Katie) Engelhardt of Chicago, IL, Daniel (Kim) Engelhardt of Diamond, IL, Donna (Bobby) Nass of Murray, KY, Thomas (Megan) Engelhardt of Reynolds, IN, David (Jenna) Engelhardt of Kokomo, IN, nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Carol Green and Richard Engelhardt; and aunts and uncles.

Catherine “Catt” Catt-Shelby
Catherine “Catt” Catt-Shelby, age 66, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Kokomo, Indiana, surrounded by the love of the family and friends who cherished her throughout her life.
Born on February 20, 1960, in Kokomo, Indiana, Catherine was the daughter of the late Francis Catt and Helen Miller. She grew up in the community she would always call home and carried with her throughout life the values of kindness, loyalty, and resilience. A proud graduate of Kokomo High School, she built a life marked by service, devotion to family, and a warm spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Catherine answered the call to serve her country by joining the United States Air Force, where she worked in regulations and the mail department. She later continued her career in public service as a Corrections Officer at Miami Correctional Facility, where she served for 13 years until her retirement in 2017. In every role she held, Catherine was known for her strong work ethic, her sense of responsibility, and her ability to connect with others in a genuine and memorable way.
Those who knew Catherine will remember her as loving, thoughtful, and funny. She was a chatty Cathy in the best sense of the phrase, and she truly knew just about everyone. She never met a stranger, and she had a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome almost immediately. Catherine loved deeply and openly, and she was loved in return by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence filled a room, and her personality left an imprint that will not be forgotten.
Catherine enjoyed reading, dancing, and singing, and she appreciated the simple routines and comforts of daily life. She also enjoyed a cigarette and found joy in conversation, laughter, and the company of others. Her family and friends will always remember her for the way she could bring people together, tell a story, and brighten even an ordinary day with her humor and heart.
She is survived by her husband Raymond Shelby, with whom she shared 27 loving years; her children Adam Catt, Brandon Shaffer and his wife Ashley, Raymond Shelby II and his wife Kayla, and Angelina Storie and her husband Mark; her sisters Rhonda Abney, Veve Catt, Connie Vetter, Val Catt, and Terri Catt; and her grandchildren Zachary, Keylee, Bentlee, Logan, Riley, and Elijah. She also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and countless others whose lives were touched by her kindness and friendship.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents Francis Catt and Helen Miller, her sister Tammy Catt, and nephew Chad Catt. Though her passing leaves a deep emptiness, her family finds comfort in the many memories they shared and in the lasting example she set through her love and devotion.
A traditional saying often reminds us, “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us,” attributed to Helen Keller. Catherine’s life reflected that truth in every way, as she became a treasured part of the hearts of those who knew her.
Her family and friends will remember Catherine Shelby not only for the years she lived, but for the life she shared so generously. She will be remembered for her laughter, her honesty, her compassion, and the unmistakable way she made others feel seen and valued. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, and all who were blessed to know her.

Stephen Harry Reed
Stephen Harry Reed, 74 years old, of Kokomo, passed away 10:44 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2026, at his home. He was born in Kokomo, IN, on May 5, 1952, the son of the late Victor and Ruby Bernice (Kellar) Reed. On February 14, 1986, he married Karen Kratzer, and she survives. Stephen was proud to celebrate 40 years of marriage with 40 red roses on their anniversary.
Stephen was a 1971 graduate of Haworth High School. He retired as a carpenter from Hayes Brothers. He was a devoted husband and family man who took great pride in caring for them. He especially enjoyed spoiling his wife and making sure his family was taken care of. Though he was a large man in stature, his family often described him as a “big teddy bear.” He was protective of those closest to him and could always be counted on to stand up for them.
Stephen was a man of strong Christian faith. He enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to audiobooks. He had a wide range of interests, including hunting, fishing, classic trucks, firearms, and watching war movies. He was also an animal lover and formed special bonds with his dogs Buster and Angus and his cat Kazamir. Above all of his hobbies and interests, however, his greatest joy came from his family.
In addition to his wife Karen, Stephen is survived by his daughter Tawny (Rick) Addison; grandson Jake Lane; great-grandson Dawson Lane; and nephews Kurt Reed and David Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard Reed, James Reed, Thomas Reed; and sister Christine Stout.

Brian Douglas Toepfer
Brian Douglas Toepfer, 66, of Oakland City, IN, passed into the presence of his Savior on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, located in Vincennes, IN. Brian was born on Sunday, December 13, 1959, in Wabash, IN, to Orion and Mary Jane Wylie Toepfer, both of whom survive. Brian attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, graduating in 1982 with his degree in engineering. He was a mechanical engineer for Hansen Corporation of Princeton for 24 years.
On July 2, 1983, in Wabash, IN, Brian married Cheryl DuBois, who survives, of Oakland City, IN. After marriage, he and Cheryl moved from Wabash to southern Indiana and started their family. Brian was a member of the Oak Grove Church in Oakland City, IN, and enjoyed singing with the worship team there. He enjoyed sports and sharing his love of theater and musicals with his children, faithfully attending any performances including them. Brian was a giver, putting others before himself. He enjoyed being with his family and supported them in all the kids were involved in.
Brian is survived by his wife Cheryl of Oakland City, IN; his parents Orion and Mary Jane Toepfer of Wabash, IN; two sons Steven (HarleeRay) Toepfer of Huntingburg, IN, and Joseph Toepfer of Oakland, City, IN; two daughters Rachel Toepfer of Vientiane, Laos, and Abby (Corban) Doyle of Oakland City, IN; twin brother Bruce (Beth) Toepfer of Winston-Salem, NC, and Jeff (Leslie) Toepfer of Milford, MI; two sisters Linda Abney of Kokomo, IN, and Janice (Phil) Harris of Columbia City, IN; and four grandbabies Evangeline, Margo, and two more currently due.
