The Minority Health Alliance of Howard County will hold its annual meeting Monday, March 2, at 2:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Family Service Association, 618 S. Main St.
The Minority Health Alliance was founded in 1999 with the mission to support programs that improve racial and ethnic health disparities in Howard County. The goal is to improve health outcomes within that group.
The alliance provides health-related programs and services to all residents of Howard County, with a focus on reaching the African American, Hispanic and Latino, Native American, Alaskan Native, and Asian populations.
Since its inception, the Minority Health Alliance has established programs, such as Operation Fit Kids, designed to teach youth about nutrition and exercise. It also conducts diabetes management programs, educates on heart disease and stroke prevention, offers tobacco cessation support, addresses depression and stress management, and more.
