The City of Kokomo will commence repaving operations in the downtown area beginning Monday, May 25, at 11 p.m. Paving will begin on Tuesday, May 26, at 11 p.m. The working shifts are planned to all be from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., at which time the intent is to have the streets open to traffic by 8 a.m.
The specific areas involved are Sycamore Street from Main to Buckeye, Buckeye from Sycamore to Walnut, Walnut from Buckeye to Main, Main from Walnut to the bridge over the Wildcat, Superior from Main to Union, and Union from Superior to the bridge over the Wildcat.
The project will be conducted at night to mitigate traffic disruptions to the extent possible, increasing paving efficiency at the same time. It is anticipated that the entire area will be complete by Wednesday, June 3, weather permitting.
