Michael Kent Thurmond

Michael Kent Thurmond, 78, of Russiaville, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 27, 1947, the son of Wiladean (Helton) Thurmond. On September 16, 1978, he married the love of his life Yvonnie M. Smith in Kokomo, IN, at Morning Star Church.

Michael was a 1965 graduate of Eastern High School. He attended Ball State University and graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He worked in production at Delco Electronics for 31 years and was a member of UAW 292. After retirement, Michael and Yvonnie moved to Las Vegas where he was a concierge at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino for 10 years. In high school, Michael participated in 4-H, FFA, and Art Club. In college, he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. Michael loved dogs and horses. He bred, raised, and showed horses most of his life and was a member of the Indiana Quarter Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association for years. He was proud of the many champion Quarter Horses that he raised, many of which were offspring of his beloved mare April. He loved flowers and was a wonderful gardener. Michael was a hard worker who faced challenges with a smile. He was known to be a lucky man, especially when he played blackjack, and was well known for finding four-leaf clovers. Michael also loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kokomo.

Along with his wife Yvonnie Thurmond, he is survived by his sisters Malinda (Jeff) Wilcox and Melissa (Keith) Chandler; nieces Cara Elizabeth (Tom) Knuckles and Autumn Smith; nephews Levi Michael Chandler and Jeremiah Hood; great nephew Isaiah Hood; great niece Arlo Knuckles; aunt Jan McClish; sister-in-law Catherine Hood; honorary daughter Susan Ewart; and his dogs Lola and Willie.

He was preceded in death by his mother Wiladean Thurmond and his wife’s parents Lola Titus and William Smith.

A funeral service celebrating Michael’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Visitation preceding the service will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery. Edward Le Denato

Master Sergeant (ret.) Edward Le Denato, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at his residence. He was born on November 18, 1936, in Davenport, Iowa, to the late Pedro J. and Zelda Denato. Edward married Karole (Fenton) Denato on July 19, 1957, in Albia, Iowa, and she passed away on June 12, 2012.

Edward enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and served his country until his retirement in 1974. After his military career, he worked for Sears in Kokomo for 10 years and eventually retired from the City of Orlando in Florida after 10 years of employment. Edward was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching football.

He is survived by his son Eddie Le (Kristina) Denato; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother Jimmy Denato; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are his loving wife Karole; daughter Lisa Bell; son Mark Denato; granddaughter Jennyfer Ruble; four great-grandchildren; and many siblings.

There will be a time of visitation for Edward on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Chaplain Adam Rinehart will be officiating. Burial will follow to Sharpsville Cemetery. Full military rites will be performed by the United States Air Force and VFW Post #1152 Military Rites Team.



Marjorie Ann Sinnamon

Marjorie Ann Sinnamon, 82, of Kokomo, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. She was born on August 23, 1943, in Kokomo, the daughter of Harry and Mildred (Scott) Metcalf. On August 27, 1961, in Kokomo, Marjorie married Sunny Sinnamon, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2019.

Marjorie graduated from Northwestern High School in 1961. She worked as a beautician for more than 50 years for humans and 4-H animals, a farm wife for 64 years, a farm owner/operator for six years, as Ervin Township Assessor for several years, and was the grandma taxi service for 28 years. Marjorie enjoyed crafting, playing cards with her family, shopping, and accompanying Sunny with his state fair activities. She had a love for children and would take community children shopping and was like a second mother to close friends and nieces. Marjorie was involved in the Howard County Extension Homemakers, 4-H Leader, tutor for Northwestern School Corporation, and a member on the board for the Kokomo Symphony. She was even awarded the Jane Award with the Howard County Extension Homemakers.

Marjorie is survived by her children Lois (Dave) Combs, Scott (Pam) Sinnamon, Zac Sinnamon, and John (Michelle) Sinnamon; grandchildren Jaqueline (Wes) Berkshire, Natalie (Jamie) Combs, Allie (Colby) Combs, Victoria (Jeremy) Combs, Madeline Sinnamon, Naomi Sinnamon, and Eli Sinnamon; great-grandchildren Anna Berkshire and Tate Berkshire; sister Carolyn Scott; sisters-in-law Bev Metcalf and Sue Metcalf; brothers-in-law Leonard Hartman, Jim Ferenc, George Ferenc, and Frank Renfro; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband of 57 years, Sunny, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Harry & Mildred Metcalf; sisters Wilma (P.A.)Schini, Dorothy Hartman, and Margaret (Donald) Laag; brothers John (Phyllis) Metcalf, Forrest Metcalf, Cleo Metcalf, Perry Metcalf, and Russell (Cheryl) Metcalf; and brother-in-law Dan Scott.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street Russiaville, with Pastor John Kolb officiating. Burial will follow in Barnett Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Stout & Son Funeral Home. Kenneth Pernell Johns

Kenneth Pernell Johns, age 70, of Kokomo, Indiana, went to be with our heavenly father on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He is now bowling in heaven. Ken was born in Dandron, Virginia, on November 11,1954, to Edith (Austin) Johns. He served in the United States Air Force honorably from 1974 though 1980. He attended the Community College of the Air Force, earning an Associate’s degree in Applied Science for Aircraft/Power Plant Technology. He then attended Southern Illinois University College of Engineering and Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. He retired from Raytheon Technologies after 40 years of employment.

Ken enjoyed traveling, watching NCIS and FBI TV programs, and bowling. He was a natural “homebody,” but he liked to amuse himself by getting “lost” in Lowe’s. He loved his family greatly and had an abundance of long-term friends that he stayed connected with for more than 40 years. His absence will forever be felt because Ken was irreplaceable and deeply loved.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife Virgie Wright-Johns; his mother Edith Austin; dad Richard Austin; his daughter Ashley Johns; his grandchildren Carson Washington, Cameren Washington, and Carter Washington; his step-son Danny (Marinna) Graham; step-grandchildren Dillon, Justin, Austin, Danielle, Lis, and Braylee; step-great-grandchildren Layna, Barry, Jema, and Joann; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his aunt Velma Flowers and his stepdaughter Jennifer Thompson.
