The Kokomo’s Funniest Comic Series is coming in May, and it promises to be a riot. Rhine Hall Entertainment and Event Venue will host the weekly comedy competition each Thursday evening in May, with a grand finale to crown Kokomo’s Funniest Comic on May 31.

The doors at Rhine Hall, 507 N. Union St., will open at 6 p.m. on each evening of the competition, and the show will begin at 7 p.m. A team of judges will evaluate the comedians with the assistance of a surprise celebrity judge each week. But they won’t be the only ones determining with comics advance to the final. The audience has a say as well.

People in attendance can vote for their favorite acts by donating dollars. The comic receiving the most votes over the course of the competition will earn a spot in the final, and 100 percent of the money donated through the voting process will be donated to a local charity. A different charity will be the recipient each week, and the one receiving the largest donation will be spotlighted at the final event.

The month-long competition reaches its finale on May 31, and the winning comedian will walk away with shiny trophy – because laughter deserves bling, too – a $250 prize, and a feature show at Rhine Hall at a later date.

Tickets to each competition are $10. The event is limited to participants aged 18 and up. A cash bar will be available.

Kokomo’s Funniest Comic is looking for charities that want to participate. According to Rhine Hall founder Gary Rhinebarger, the event prefers charities that work with children, women, animals, and veterans.

“Let’s make a difference together,” said Rhinebarger. “Let’s rally together for a fantastic cause, share some hearty laughs, and witness the birth of the next comedic superstar! Kokomo’s Funniest Comic Series is not just about entertainment; it’s about community, compassion, and laughter with purpose.”

Sponsorship opportunities are also available. To become a sponsor, contact Rhinebarger at 765-860-3758, Tricia Horner at 765-210-8210, or be emailing rhinehall.gary@gmail.com or Rhinehall.trish@ gmail.com.

The Funniest Comic competition isn’t the only chance to laugh this spring. Rhine Hall will play host for Kokomo Comedy’s Comedy Series on April 5-6. Hosted by comedian Dan West, the series will feature Aisha Brown and headliner BT.

The event begins at 7 p.m. each evening, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $30 for balcony seating.
