The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library invites people of all ages to participate in the annual summer reading program beginning June 7. This year’s theme is Adventure Begins at Your Library, and KHCPL plans to kick off the adventure on Friday, June 7 during the Strawberry Festival.

People are encouraged to visit KHCPL Main at 220 N. Union St. to sign up for the summer reading program, pick up free prizes and enjoy games, crafts, and snacks.

Each year, the summer reading program is open to people of all ages. Participants who keep up their reading streak can earn age-appropriate prizes each week of the program. While the challenge officially ends on July 19, participants can still pick up prizes until July 27.

One of the most coveted prizes each year is a ticket to the Splish Splash Final Bash, sponsored by Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union. The annual pool party at Kokomo Beach is exclusive to those who complete the reading challenge. The event is set for Thursday, July 25.

KHCPL has several big, camping-themed events planned throughout the summer. In June, Royal Events Entertainment will join the library for interactive meet and greets with two wilderness explorers. In July, reality survivalist star Clint Jivoin will visit to share tips on how to live off the land. Other events include fantasy map making, learning to grow your own mushrooms, an adult technology camp and more. Find a full list of upcoming events at https://khcpl.libnet.info/events.
