United Way serving Howard and Tipton Counties is pleased to announce that the second grant cycle of 2024 is now open to applicants. All 501c3 organizations in Howard and Tipton Counties are eligible to apply.

The organization encourages those interested to visit the United Way website at www.howardandtiptonunitedway.org/grants to access the application. The deadline to apply will be on Monday, July 22, 2024. The grant recipients will be informed in mid-September and recognized on September 19, 2024, at the United Way Campaign Kickoff.

A second grant cycle in the same year is unprecedented for the local United Way, and a sea change from just a year earlier when grants were temporarily suspended while the nonprofit reorganized under a new leadership team. In March, United Way awarded $327,000 in grants to 13 nonprofits in Howard and Tipton counties.

While the amount of funding available for the second funding round hasn’t been disclosed, the United Way’s 2023 funding campaign was a rousing success, bringing in more than $1.2 million from a community eager to breathe new life into the organization.

At the United Way’s campaign celebration event in March, CEO Dana Neer announced the nonprofit’s intention of holding a second funding round, and possibly a third, though the latter may be unlikely as the charity’s 2024 fundraising campaign begins in September.

United Way will hold two informational sessions and a virtual Q&A session regarding the grants. The first session will take place Mon., July 8, from 2-3 p.m. at the United Way offices, 125 N. Buckeye St. The second session will occur on Tue., July 9, from 9-10 a.m. at the Tipton County Foundation, 1020 W. Jefferson St., Tipton.

The virtual session will commence on Mon., July 15, from noon until 12:45 p.m. Additional information about this session can be found at the above-listed website.
