The Summer Soundtrack in the Heart of Kokomo will come to a close on Saturday, Sept. 27, with the End of Summer Banger. The free evening of music will feature Everclear, Local H, and Sponge.

Everclear is an American alternative rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1991 by lead vocalist and guitarist Art Alexakis. The band’s early lineup included bassist Craig Montoya and drummer Greg Eklund. They achieved significant success in the 1990s with platinum-certified albums such as “Sparkle and Fade” (1995) and “So Much for the Afterglow” (1997), featuring hit singles like "Santa Monica" and "Father of Mine."

Over the years, Everclear has released multiple studio albums and continues to tour extensively. In recent years, the band celebrated its 30th anniversary, with Art Alexakis expressing no plans to slow down. The band’s enduring appeal has allowed them to reach a new generation of fans, continuing to perform live shows and connect with audiences worldwide.

Local H is an American rock band formed in 1990 in Zion, Illinois, by guitarist and vocalist Scott Lucas. Initially a four-piece, the band became a duo after the departure of its bassist and lead guitarist, with Lucas innovatively modifying his guitar to cover bass frequencies. This unique setup contributed to its distinctive sound.

Rounding out the evening will be Sponge, an American alternative rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1992. The original lineup featured vocalist Vinnie Dombroski, guitarists Mike Cross and Joey Mazzola, bassist Tim Cross, and drummer Jimmy Paluzzi.

The band gained prominence in the mid-1990s with hits like “Plowed” and “Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain)” from its debut album, “Rotting Piiiata,” which was certified gold by the RIAA.

The concert will begin at 5 p.m. at the Kokomo Performing Arts Pavilion at Foster Park, 721 E. Superior St. While there is some bleacher seating available, those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and blanket for a perfect evening under the stars.

Presented by the City of Kokomo, the Kokomo Summer Concert Series brings together top-tier national and regional acts alongside local food vendors and community activities, creating unforgettable evenings of live music. The series is free and open to the public.

The remainder of the series will be released in the coming weeks. Keep up-to-date on the lineup and additional details on the series, visit kokomosummerseries.com or find the concert series on Facebook and Instagram
