Galveston volunteers respond to fatal blaze near U.S. 31 and Ind. 18
At approximately, 5:43 a.m. on Mon., April 21, the Galveston Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a residential fire in the vicinity of U.S. 31 and Ind. 18.
Prior to the arrival of Galveston units, Miami County dispatchers informed responding personnel of a potential entrapment of two individuals inside the dwelling. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire from the rear of the residence.
Crews immediately initiated a search of the home and located one victim.
Galveston Volunteer Fire Department received mutual aid assistance from the Pipe Creek, Grisson, and Amboy Fire Departments in battling the blaze.
