Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo will host a Student Readiness Fair for healthcare and nursing students on Friday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The opportunity is supported by a generous sponsorship from Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO).
The fair will take place at the Health Professions Center on the Ivy Tech Kokomo Campus and will provide students with the essential health screenings and documentation required for participation in clinical training. Services offered will include immunizations, tuberculosis (TB) tests, and physicals.
Representatives from NIPSCO and Ivy Tech will officially kick off the event at 9 a.m. Friday.
“This student readiness fair ensures that our healthcare and nursing students are fully prepared to begin their clinical training without facing barriers of time and money,” said Tammy Greene, dean of Health Sciences for Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Service Area. “By covering the cost of these critical requirements and coordinating these services at one time and place, NIPSCO is helping students so stay on track in their programs and enter the workforce sooner. Their partnership is an incredible investment in the future of healthcare in our communities.”
The Indiana Department of Health will provide immunizations and TB tests, while local nurse practitioners will conduct required physicals.
“The Student Readiness Fair is another example of how community partners like NIPSCO are working with Ivy Tech to strengthen the pipeline of healthcare professionals who will serve north central Indiana,” said Kelly Karickhoff, vice chancellor of development and community engagement for Ivy Tech Kokomo.
