The Howard County Republican Party congratulates Jensen Pickett on his appointment as Taylor Township Trustee. Pickett was selected by a caucus of Republican Party committee members to replace David Ancil in the role.
"We are excited to see the new vision and leadership Jensen will bring to the office of the trustee," said Jordan Buckley, Chairman of the Howard County Republican Party. "We are confident he will serve the citizens of Taylor Township with dedication and integrity."
Township trustees in Indiana are charged with providing oversight and care for the poor, offering temporary relief as needed. They also are charged with providing fire protection within their township, providing burial assistance for the indigent, maintaining cemeteries within the township, providing weed control, settling disputes over the placement and maintenance of line fences, maintaining parks within the township not maintained by a municipality, and providing insulin for the indigent, among other duties.
Township trustees serve four-year terms and are elected by the citizens living within the township, exclusively. The Taylor Township Trustee will face election in 2026, and Pickett is eligible to run. There are no term limits on township trustees.
