On December 5, 2025, at 6:45 a.m., officers of the Kokomo Police Department responded to the apartments located at 100 West and 300 South for a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred.
Two female victims were located and interviewed. Both provided a description of a male and a vehicle that fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival. The victims had recently met the male and were with him earlier in the night. They advised he returned and forced his way into the home, forcibly removing both victims’ cellular phones. The victims advised the male was in possession of a firearm at the time of the robbery but never pointed the firearm at them.
Officers located the suspect vehicle at an area hotel in the 4000 block of South Lafountain and located the suspect and a female in a hotel room. The male was taken into custody for Robbery, and the female was taken into custody for Possession of Marijuana and Obstruction of Justice for attempting to destroy evidence when officers arrived.
A search warrant was executed on the room and vehicle. Officers were assisted by the Kokomo Computer Crime lab and K9 Gelid. K9 Gelid located the stolen electronic devices in the hotel room and additional electronics in the vehicle. The handgun was also recovered.
Arrested was 40- year-old Darryl Johnson of Kokomo for two counts of Robbery, Level 3 Felonies, and one count of Obstruction of Justice, a Level 6 Felony.
The female occupant of the hotel room, Stacey Prater, 38, of Kokomo, was arrested for Obstruction of Justice, a level 6 Felony, and Possession of Marijuana, B Misdemeanor.
