Ascension St. Vincent has announced its first Medical Mission at Home event in Kokomo will take place on Saturday, May 16. This free, one-day event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kokomo Rescue Mission, 321 West Mulberry Street. This event will provide health and wellness services to Kokomo community members who are uninsured, underinsured, or facing barriers to traditional care, with no insurance or appointments required. Onsite teams also will connect participants with community partners and local resources to support their long-term health, ensuring continuity of care beyond the event.
Since its inception in 2008, Medical Mission at Home has provided compassionate, high-quality healthcare to thousands across Indiana. During this year’s event, participants can receive the following services at no cost:
- Medical and mental health services
- No-cost prescription dispensing through Ascension Rx, supported by donated medications from Dispensary of Hope
- Spiritual care, food, and financial guidance
- Other personal care services
- Follow-up appointments to support needed ongoing care
- Access to community resources and social support
“Medical Mission at Home is a powerful expression of our commitment to extend our Mission into the community and care for those most in need,” said Don Damron, President, Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo. “In Kokomo, we are bringing together compassionate caregivers, volunteers and community partners to remove barriers and ensure every person has access to the care and dignity they deserve.
“This work is about more than a single day, it’s about building healthier lives and stronger communities.”
This event wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated volunteers from Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo – associates, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, chaplains – and partner organizations, all coming together to serve those in need. Spanish and Korean interpreters will be available. Through Medical Mission at Home, Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo continues to meet people where they are, breaking down barriers to care and helping build stronger, healthier communities.
