KPD searching for man who tried to take infant at Aldi on April 26
On April 26, at approximately 10:53 a.m., officers of the Kokomo Police Department were dispatch to Aldi, located at 1381 S. Reed Road, regarding an attempted child abduction.
Officers spoke with the child’s mother, who reported that she was returning her shopping cart outside the store. While removing her one-year-old daughter, an unknown male approached. The male reportedly placed both his hands on the child and attempted to lift her from the shopping cart without speaking.
The mother immediately yelled at the individual, drawing attention from several witnesses. Witnesses confirmed observing the male place both his hands on the child and attempt to lift the child out of the shopping cart. After the attempt, the subject briefly entered the store, used the sanitizer wipes near the entrance, and then exited, walking westbound from the business.
Witnesses described the individual as a frequent customer who may reside in the area. The person of interest is described as a Hispanic male, wearing a green jacket and a hat. The child was not injured during the incident.
