On June 21, 2026, at approximately 1:37 a.m., officers of the Kokomo Police Department responded to The Greatt Escape, 2411 N. Washington St., on report of a fight. As officers were arriving on scene, numerous gunshots were heard being fired in the parking lot. Officers began securing and assessing the scene.
Officers located 31-year-old Braylen T. Johnson of Kokomo, unconscious and unresponsive on the ground, suffering from suspected gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel were requested immediately.
Medical personnel arrived and transported Braylen to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased at approximately 2:07 a.m.
Officers were assisted by the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, and the Howard County Emergency Management Agency.
