Hunt of Western, Oglesby of Maconaquah make quick exits; 11 competed at semi-state

The 2025-26 boys’ varsity wrestling season came to a close over the weekend, with two local grapplers finishing their runs at the state finals.
Erik Hunt of Western competed in Indianapolis on Feb. 20 after winning his regional bracket and finishing second in semi-state competition. And Maconaquah’s Evan Oglesby also was stopped short in state competition after winning at 157 lbs. at the regional and placing third at semi-state. Both wrestlers fell in their opening round matches.
The regional round of competition held great promise for local wrestlers, as 11 student-athletes advanced to the semi-state on Feb. 7.
The podium was full of area school representatives at 106 lbs., with Carson Young of Eastern placing 3rd, Dorian Barbour of Kokomo finishing 2nd, and Ari Schrock of Maconaquah taking 1st.
Keegan Tedder of Western placed 3rd at 126 lbs., and Elliott Grist of Lewis Cass finished 3rd at 132 lbs.
Glen Baldwin of Peru placed 3rd at 138 lbs. to join Hunt, and Owen Tolle of Eastern was 2nd at 150 lbs.
Dylan Underwood of Taylor took 3rd at 190 lbs., and Hayden Dillinger of Western finished 3rd at 285 lbs.
