'The Lion King Jr.' at IU Kokomo thrills young afterschool program students

The Carver Afterschool Program students had an unforgettable experience attending Kokomo Curtain Call's The Lion King Jr. at IU Kokomo’s Havens Auditorium. The play was a stunning showcase of young talent, bringing to life the beloved story with exceptional performances, vibrant imagery, and captivating music.

From the opening scene to the final bow, the production stayed true to the heart of The Lion King story. The young actors embraced their roles with passion, embodying the iconic characters of Simba, Mufasa, Scar, and the rest of the pride.

Their commitment to the performance made each moment feel genuine and engaging. The combination of acting, colorful set designs, and powerful singing created a breathtaking atmosphere that transported the audience into the heart of the African savannah.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the evening was how well the play held the attention of the Carver students, who range from kindergarten to fifth grade. Typically, sitting through a two-hour performance might be challenging for younger children, but the production was so immersive that there were no distractions. Their eyes were glued to the stage as they watched the story unfold, demonstrating just how compelling the performance was.

This experience was more than just entertainment for the Carver kids—it was an opportunity for inspiration. Seeing kids close to their own age perform at such a high level may have sparked new dreams among the students. Perhaps some of them will be inspired to step on stage themselves one day, pursuing acting, singing, or other creative endeavors.

For those who didn’t get the chance to see The Lion King Jr., Curtain Call Theatre for Children puts on multiple productions each year. It is well worth the time to witness the magic, talent, and dedication from these young actors that make their productions unforgettable.
