Omega Psi Phi shines spotlight on youth performers
The men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., in Kokomo, Indiana, continue to demonstrate their commitment to community uplift and youth development. On Saturday, April 12, the chapter hosted a dynamic youth talent show at the Second Baptist Church event center. This event brought together local families and community members for an afternoon of inspiration, creativity, and support for the next generation.
The show featured seven talented contestants between the ages of 13 and 18. These young individuals displayed their skills in a variety of artistic categories, including vocal performances, instrumental music, and visual arts. Each performance was judged with care and attention, and every contestant brought something unique and heartfelt to the stage
The audience was fully engaged from start to finish, showing genuine enthusiasm and admiration for each performance. Whether it was a song that moved the crowd, a clarinet solo that stirred emotion, or a painting that told a story, the passion of each youth shone through. It was more than a contest—it was a celebration of expression, courage, and the incredible potential found in young people.
Mr. Willie Stroman, a member of Omega Psi Phi, shared his thoughts on the event, saying, “We had another successful Talent Hunt, giving local youth an opportunity to showcase their talent in the areas of singing, clarinet, art, and drums. It also provided the gift to share their talent in front of a live audience.”
His words captured the heart of the event, which was as much about exposure and encouragement as it was about performance.
The participants included Carson Dewey, Haiven Willis, Nora Marden, Zian Smith, Kendal Lang, Ezekiel Wright, and Noelle Duncan. Each of them left a lasting impression and were applauded not only for their talents but for their bravery in stepping forward to share them.
Beyond this event, Omega Psi Phi continues to lead in youth programming, mentoring, and scholarship opportunities for students aiming for higher education. Their presence in the Kokomo community remains a beacon of support, and service.
As they look ahead, the fraternity is dedicated to providing even more opportunities for youth to thrive. Stay tuned!
