Rhine Hall's 'Funniest Comedian' raised money for community center

Carver Community Center served as the host charity at Rhine Hall’s “Kokomo’s Funniest Comedian, Comedy for a Cause” on Friday, Sept. 19. The intimate crowd enjoyed plenty of laughter from good, clean comedy in a relaxed setting.

Guests enjoyed a cash bar along with food from the aptly named food truck “The Middle of Nowhere,” which helped create a fun, welcoming atmosphere.

The evening featured a lineup of six up-and-coming comedians, most from Indiana, with a few traveling from other cities across the country. Each performer brought their best material in a five- to seven-minute set. The show is part of a larger fundraising effort that also includes nights hosted by Ainsley’s Angels and H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Excel); each serving as the host charity on different evenings.

The event included both a People’s Choice and a Judges’ Choice award. Winners from each night will go on to compete in the grand finale on Oct. 17, making every performance count. The comedy is geared toward audiences ages 16 and up, creating a mature yet family-friendly environment. Tickets for the next round of competition on Oct. 3 are available for $12 in advance and $17 at the door.

Carver Community Center expresses its gratitude for the many sponsors who made the evening possible. Special thanks go to Sokuri Korean Restaurant, Barlow’s Barber Shop, Cook McDoogals, and Sound of Music for their support on Carver’s host night. Their contributions, along with those of the broader community, help sustain vital programming and outreach for local families.

“Comedy for a Cause” proved that a night of laughter can also make a meaningful impact, highlighting how the Kokomo community can come together to support organizations that serve others.
