The NAACP Kokomo Local Branch 3055 will hold a Unity in Our Community meeting on Fri., Oct. 17, at the Carver Community Center, 1030 N. Purdum St., from 6-8 p.m. The event is designed to empower the local community to act for the benefit of all.

The event is open to the entire community. Keynote speakers at the meeting will include NAACP Indiana President Sadie Harper-Scott, and NAACP National Board Member Maureen Duncan.

Other speakers who will address the crowd include Kokomo Mayor Tyler Moore, City of Kokomo, Kokomo Police Chief Doug Stout, Kokomo Fire Chief Paul Edwards, Howard Superior Court II/Veterans Court Judge Blake Dahl, Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo Region Chancellor Dr. Ethan Heicher, and Indiana University Kokomo Chancellor Dr. Mark Canada.
