Bridges Outreach and the City of Kokomo are excited to announce that The Frozen Sandlot will be back for its eighth season. The ice-skating rink has become a staple in the community, and both entities have committed to keeping this tradition affordable for families.
“Prices seem to be rising everywhere, but we are committed to keeping our prices the same so that families can experience an affordable memory this winter,” said Travis Taflinger, CEO of Bridges Outreach.
Taflinger announced that prices will not increase this year. Tickets will remain $7 for skaters, giving them skaters access for the entire day, including skates. Skaters can leave and return simply by presenting their ticket. If a skater brings their own skates, their rate is only $5, which is also the admission price for spectators.
The rink will open the Friday after Thanksgiving on Nov. 28. The last day of the season will be Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026. The Frozen Lot typically serves 6,500 skaters and spectators each year.
“When you visit the Frozen Sandlot, you also bless Bridges Outreach by providing workforce development opportunities,” Taflinger added. “We employ (more than) 25 workers each winter and offer an excellent internship program for our younger students.”
The Frozen Sandlot employs current and former students affiliated with Bridges in an effort to support the larger community. Through the organization’s mission, young people are taught necessary life skills, including proper work ethic, fiscal responsibility, and even home ownership. The Frozen Sandlot is a key component of that education, and next year it will be joined by the new miniature golf course being installed in Cutler Park on the city’s east side.
The Frozen Sandlot website and Facebook page now have the schedule posted for the season. Several dates are available to groups to rent the rink or a heated suite for private events. Rental information and birthday package options can be found on these resources.
“Ice skating brings back a lot of great memories for adults in our community, and it is a great experience for their children,” said Taflinger. “We love providing this family-friendly service to North Central Indiana!
“In the past, we have hosted schools, family Christmas parties, business groups, and lots of birthday parties. We also sell season passes and gift packages for a date night or Christmas gifts.”
Taflinger noted that hot chocolate is served at The Frozen Sandlot, and they keep the skates in a heated tent to accommodate skaters as they prepare to take to the ice and return from their trips around the rink. The Frozen Sandlot if open even if temperatures are above freezing.
“We love hosting people from all over Indiana and beyond,” Taflinger said. “Families have the opportunity to spend time together, get outside and have some fun!”
