Dozens of service providers participate in annual effort to reach those in need

The parking lot at the Center Township of Howard County was filled with booths and tents on June 11 as the township held its annual Community Expo. The free event served as an access point to more than 30 local services and resources.

According to Center Township Trustee Drew Durham, the Community Expo, one of his final acts as trustee before his resignation takes effect on July 27, is aimed at increasing awareness and accessibility to services that significantly impact the lives of local residents. People connected with numerous service providers and community agencies in a welcoming and informative environment.

The Community Expo also featured food distribution in conjunction with Midwest Food Bank, which allowed hundreds of people to take home needed meals. The township routinely maintains a food bank as part of its commitment to reduce food insecurity in the community. The distribution also featured essential non-food items such as soap and deodorant.

The Community Expo Resource Fair was made possible by Aunt Millie’s Community First Bank, Duke Energy and the Duke Energy Foundation, Indiana Heartland Federal Credit Union, Meijer, and Midwest Food Bank.
